Annual Letter

Dear Library Supporter:

If you are receiving this letter, you already know and love our library. Perhaps you joined us for our gala in September honoring Rachel Fox and the librarians of the Jackie and Hal Spielman Children's Library. I was struck that evening by how intersectional the event was-bringing together patrons, donors, local representatives, the leadership of so many wonderful grass-roots nonprofits in Port Washington, and of course dear friends and family. More than ever, we understand that the resources we provide, as well as the physical infrastructure we provide it with, are what keep hearts and minds open, while it is your ongoing support that keeps our doors wide open to the hustle and bustle of this busy, beautiful place.

As the weather changes and with the world in great flux, we thank you for the many good things you have helped us build this year: the five Advisory Councils-- Children's, Art, Music, Health, and Nautical; Homegrown Readers- one-on-one home visits by trained staff to encourage early literacy for low income families; Books for Dessert and now Theater for Dessert, our book and theater clubs that provide a creative place to improve social and literacy skills for adults with intellectual disabilities who have aged out of the education system; and of course, our dynamic Jobs and Career Center, which includes the Job Search Boot Camp that has helped so many Port residents work toward their career dreams, especially crucial during these challenging times --all programs that help everyone in this community grow and thrive.

And we look to the future with some very exciting projects on the horizon, including a capital campaign to fund a state-of-the-art re-imagining of our Maker Space.

As always, we rely on both your appreciation for this most special community center as well as your extraordinary generosity. We invite you to contribute and collaborate with us again this year as we continue to dig deeper, denser roots. Please use the enclosed envelope or go to www.pwlfoundation.com to continue to support us in funding the future of the library.

Sincerely,

Beth Ain, President
