This Fall, Roots is partnering with Book RePort to support Homegrown Readers, a program funded by the PORT WASHINGTON LIBRARY FOUNDATION that ensures that children from households without easy access to literacy practices — whether facing barriers related to language, income, or other factors — enter school on equal footing with their peers in our school district! THE GOAL: With additional funding, Homegrown Readers can expand to serve four additional first-year families — growing the program's reach from 8 to 12 families total. Every dollar raised on October 4th goes directly toward that expansion!
